About
Jason Stella is originally from the foot hills of the Appalachian Mountains in Southern New York but currently lives with his wife and family in Southwest Missouri. Jason has always been interested in art, especially as a child. During those formative years, mediums of choice were pencil, charcoal or pen & ink.
Life happens and things change, and painting has become his artistic path. He has had the privilege of working in the Cardiac & Thoracic surgery department at the local hospital and has been able to capture unique compositions of the “usual goings-on” of the operating room which are then represented in oils.
The Western landscape and the beauty of the Night Sky has become Jason’s artistic focus. Using telescope equipment and digital cameras, he is able to able to capture the Light of the distant past from our Dark skies. These references are then incorporated into the painting compositions, which are captured from the pristine skies of the Mountain West.
In his travels throughout the West, Jason has learned about the Native American and First Nations and the importance of these original Pioneers. Out of respect, Jason thematically includes elements of the First Nation and Native American people into his paintings to convey a sense of strength and overall congruity.
Jason is self-taught and an ongoing student of observation—of classical and contemporary masters as well as the natural world itself.
I, the artist Jason Stella, am NOT a Native American or First Nation person. All artwork on this Website has been painted by me, NOT a Native American or First Nation person.
